artist analysis
Present a page with a range of the artist/designers work, along with a paragraph or two to analyse.
What should you discuss?
What should you discuss?
- Describe their work in your own words. You may quote from the artist/designer if relevant.
- What is their work about and how is it created? Are they trying to communicate something? Is there a deeper meaning or influence behind their work? What inspires it?
- Analyse their use of colour, materials, techniques etc. Why do they make certain choices?
- Give your opinion of the work. Positive – or don’t use this artist! Be specific and justify yourself.
- Link to your ideas (this is the most important bit!) – how will this artist inspire you? How will you work in their style? What are the possibilities?
Model making from home
- fThis bit could be tricky for some of you, but there are options to suit you all.
If we are off school for a prolonged time, we are going to be missing a significant amount of time on your coursework. With this in mind, we are going to have to find ways of modelling and prototying from your designs, using whatever materials you have access to.
For example:
- Paper
- Card
- Clay/polymer clay
- Papier mache
- Textiles techniques
- Other? Whatever you have access to that you could work in! Get creative!

How are you marked?
After completing the project above, you will be marked against this criteria (it's the exact same criteria for Fine Art and Photography if you do more than one of the courses).
Please note the language used which determines the marks received - 'some ability', 'consistent ability', 'confident and highly developed ability'- the A grades always go to those with an 'Exceptional ability to...' etc.
2019 grade boundaries were: A*: 79 A:74 B:63 C:53 D:43 E:33
(Fine art boundaries are the same but photography grade boundaries are always 5-6 marks higher)
