Working from home
Year 9
You are currently working on an insect project. Here is a range of tasks for you to work on at home for this project. There will be some choices along the way - go with the option you will enjoy most at home!
Task 1: Make a 3D insect.
Most of you will have made a 3D insect at home already. If for some reason you didnt complete this homework, this is the first task. Make any insect, in any material. An easy option would be tinfoil or paper! Other materials that students have worked in include wood, card, wire, pipe cleaners, and polymer clay.
Task 2: Make another 3D insect OR explore origami
If you enjoyed task one, make another 3D insect of your choice in a material of your choice. If you would prefer a different type of challenge, search for 'origami insects step by step' on google and have a go at making an origami insect using only paper.

You have recently started a new landscape project, and will be required to put together a visual recordings board which includes a range of drawings and photographs. Use this time to produce work for this board, working through the tasks below. You may work from one of your own photographs if you have one from somewhere you have been, or one from the internet for the drawing tasks.
Task 1: A4 Drawing
Draw a landscape with an interesting feature in pencil. For example, the feature could be a gate or a building.
To be successful, make sure that you are demonstrating effective tone, texture and accuracy in your drawing.
Task 2: A4 Drawing
Complete a second drawing of a landscape, this time in your choice of materials, including a different interesting feature in the scene. You might choose to work in pencil again, or you could work in biro, pen, charcoal, pencil crayon etc. depending what you have at home.
Task 3: two further drawings
Draw from different photos, in your choice of size and material. Still focusing on tone, texture and accuracy. You could also have a focus on colour depending on your choice of materials.

Task 4: Landscape photography
Depending on the circumstances, if you are able to get out and about to take photographs of the local landscape you can get extra marks for taking your own photos. Look for points of interest, and think about whether the photos would make interesting drawings or paintings. Look for texture in the landscape and areas of contrast. Old vs New, Man vs Nature etc. can make a project more exciting. Aim to take 10+ Photos.
* If you are unable to go out to take these photos, you could look through old photos and find a selection from places you have been!
If you are unable to print your photos from home, please email them to your teacher who will print them for you when we are back in school.
